Optimems Wins First Prize at StartSmart SEE Accelerator Program

The prestigious Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications (IIT) of the National Centre For Scientific Research Demokritos (NCSR) honored Optimems Smart Energy Solutions, with the top prize of €10,000 at the StartSmart SEE accelerator program.

Out of over 100 company applications for the fall 2023 cohort, Optimems emerged as one of the 20 companies selected to participate in an intensive three-month workshop series on entrepreneurship through the StartSmart SEE accelerator.

Following a successful journey in the program, Optimems stood out among the eight startups, including Bitloops, Digital Bites, Games World League, Moverse, Orbito Travel, OptiCV, and Ratepunk, which advanced to the finals. These startups presented their solutions to a panel of investors and industry experts at the central auditorium of the National Centre For Scientific Research Demokritos (NCSR), on December 13, 2023, in the presence of Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias. The top three startups were awarded for their outstanding achievements.

Optimems Smart Energy Solutions secured the first prize for its promising integrated solution aimed at optimizing energy resource management for microgrids and virtual power plants. The software developed by Optimems integrates heterogeneous energy production and storage technologies, as well as controlled loads (e.g., electric vehicles, heat pumps), under the umbrella of a holistic energy management system based on technologies such as dynamic programming, machine learning, and the Internet of Things.

As modern realities demand the minimization of energy needs, this recognition for Optimems signifies a significant acknowledgment of its work, as the spin-off offers a software “brain” capable of providing optimal management for energy provision from a small home or industry, up to the level of a smart city, achieving a benefit of up to 30%.
